Trailblazing Women in Fashion Website
A website to learn about women in fashion through time.

Step 1
The first step was to decide on a website topic. Out of the options provided, I chose “Trailblazing Women in Fashion” with a focus on women from 1900 to present day.
Step 2
After deciding on the topic and scope, I used ChatGPT for research and inspiration. First, I asked ChatGPT for a list of women trailblazers, found here, and chose four: Jeanne Paquin, Coco Chanel, Mary Quant, and Stella McCartney.
Next, per project instructions, I had ChatGPT generate an essay draft, which I fact-checked. You can view it here.
Finally, I used Bing Image Creator to design a cover photo for the homepage, which also served as visual inspiration for the website.
Step 3
Next, I found and generated the remaining images and videos used to supplement the text. I alternated between using Bing Image Creator and Adobe Firefly to generate images, specifying the time period/style to complement each designer. The majority of the images I ended up using coming from Bing.
Step 4
After gathering all of my materials, I used Figma to create a style tile for the website, complete with the color palette and fonts I planned to use.
Step 5
Design time! Using Figma, I created high-fidelity wireframes for both desktop and mobile view. The wireframes were a project for this class in their own right, and I was able to receive feedback from my instructor, Grayson Mendenhall, before designing the final website iteration.
Step 6
Finally, it was time to create the website! I used HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap templates, taking Grayson’s and other classmates’ feedback into consideration. A secondary part of this project was a write up explaining my thought and design process, with links to all of the AI generated images I used.

AI is not all bad, when you know how to use it.
Using ChatGPT and generative image AI to design this website highlighted the power of AI in enhancing creativity and efficiency. ChatGPT guided my content ideas, while generative image AI brought unique visuals to life. This project showed me how AI can elevate the design process, allowing me to create a visually compelling tribute to pioneering women in fashion.
